Multi-output. Several monitors at once, each showing only the layers you pick — text only on the stage monitor, background and logo in the lobby. Add them in Settings › Stage › Output monitors; every monitor has its own power switch. More in Multi-output.

YouTube on several monitors, and in a box. Streaming YouTube shows on every monitor showing its layer (silent copies keep in sync), and can sit in a video box, smaller and wherever you like. Caption position, font and size are in Settings. YouTube sound follows the audio output you pick in the app.

A new look, background slides split into B and F layers, several videos on one slide, and photos in their true colours (CMYK, Display P3).

Open the .dmg, drag LayerCue onto the Applications folder, and open it from Applications, not from the disk image. Step by step in Install.

LayerCue tells you when there is a new version. When you open it, it checks — at most once a day — and if there is one, an Update marker appears in the bar at the bottom of the window. Nothing is downloaded until you press it and choose Get it. When the download is done, Open and quit opens the new disk image and closes LayerCue; drag the new copy onto Applications. Your presentations are not inside the app, so they stay as they are.

To check without waiting, press Check on the LayerCue row in Settings › Tools. The whole update, step by step, is in Install.

Get it from the Microsoft Store

Microsoft Store · published by CastPad · free

Install it from the Store, then open LayerCue from the Start menu. More in Install.

The Microsoft Store keeps LayerCue up to date. The app does not look for updates itself; if you press Check in Settings › Tools, it says Updates come automatically from the Microsoft Store.

The Store’s version number is one higher in its first place than the one LayerCue shows in Settings › Tools, because the Store does not accept a version that starts with 0. It is the same build.

0.9.9 comes to the Mac and to Windows (Microsoft Store).

Multi-Output. Several monitors at once, each showing only the layers you choose — the words alone for the stage, the background and the logo for the lobby. Add them in Settings › Stage › Output monitors; each one has its own power switch. More in Multi-Output.

A new look, background slides that split onto the B and F layers, several videos on one slide, pictures in their real colours (CMYK and Display P3), and Pick from screen on Windows.

The first time you open Settings, LayerCue asks you to sign in with Google. The beta is free; in return it asks for an email address, so we can tell you when the release lands and reach you if something serious turns up. You sign in in your browser, so that step needs an internet connection. How it works is in Install, and how the address is used is in the Privacy Policy.

Everything you use during a show works without an account — slides, output, cues and music. Only Settings and sending a message with Tell us what’s wrong need you to be signed in.

Your settings stay on this computer unless you turn on Keep settings in my account in Settings › Account. Then signing in on another computer brings them along. Only settings travel — your presentations and media files never leave the computer they are on, and things tied to one machine, like file locations and screen setup, stay put.
